By accessing or using OpenTIL ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.
2. Description of Service
OpenTIL is a hosted platform for publishing "Today I Learned" (TIL) notes. The Service provides:
A personal TIL site hosted at opentil.ai/@username
A web dashboard for creating and managing content
An API and CLI for programmatic access
Optional custom domain support
RSS feeds and public discovery features
3. Your Account
To use the Service, you must create an account using a valid email address or a supported third-party login provider. We use secure passwordless login for authentication.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account, including any API access tokens you generate. OpenTIL cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage from your failure to maintain the security of your account credentials.
4. Your Content
You retain all rights to the content you create and publish on OpenTIL. By posting content, you grant us a license to host, display, and distribute your content as part of the Service (for example, displaying your TIL entries on your public site, in feeds, and in the Explore directory).
You are responsible for the content you publish. You must have the right to share any content you post.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to:
Publish content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or otherwise objectionable
Distribute spam, malware, or phishing content
Impersonate any person or entity
Abuse the API or CLI with excessive requests beyond reasonable use
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
Interfere with or disrupt the Service
6. API and CLI Usage
Access to the OpenTIL API and CLI is subject to rate limiting. API access tokens should be kept confidential and not shared publicly. We reserve the right to revoke tokens that are found to be compromised or used in violation of these terms.
7. Custom Domains
OpenTIL supports custom domains for your TIL site. You are responsible for DNS configuration and domain ownership. Custom domains require verification before activation. We are not responsible for any issues arising from your DNS configuration.
8. Intellectual Property
The OpenTIL name, logo, and branding are the property of OpenTIL. Your content remains your own. The Service's source code, design, and infrastructure are proprietary unless otherwise stated.
9. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through the Settings page. Account deletion has a 30-day cooling-off period, during which you can cancel the deletion by logging back in.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.
10. Refunds & Cancellations
OpenTIL offers a 7-day free trial for Pro subscriptions. During the trial period, you will not be charged and may cancel at any time without cost.
Cancellation: You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time from the Billing settings page. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to Pro features until the end of your current billing period. No further charges will be applied.
Refund policy: Because we offer a free trial that lets you evaluate all Pro features before being charged, we generally do not provide refunds for subscription payments already processed. However, if you believe a charge was made in error, please contact us at support@opentil.ai within 14 days of the charge and we will review your request on a case-by-case basis.
Downgrade: When your subscription ends (whether by cancellation or expiry), your account is automatically downgraded to the Free plan. Your content is preserved, but Pro-only features such as custom domains and branding removal will be disabled.
11. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, OpenTIL shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from your use of the Service.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
13. Contact
